More Pool Time....

With the weather being extremely hot lately (90s), we have been fortunate to have thoughtful friends invite us over to swim.  This past weekend we had a great time hanging out at the pool with our friends.   I was so happy that Brian got to experience his first pool date with Lucy.  Like the last time, she loved it!  We practically had the pool to ourselves;  it was quite enjoyable. Thanks to Damon and Molly for a wonderful Saturday evening.

Happy Father's Day!

Lucy had her first experience in a pool this weekend.  As you can see from the photos, she thoroughly enjoyed herself.  She was so relaxed that she started to put her head down on her floaty to take a nap!   (At this point we quickly exited the pool to get home for her shut eye!)

Today is a very special day because it is our first time to celebrate Father's Day with our precious girl.  Lucy got her Dada a reclining chair for the deck.  He has already taken it on it's maiden voyage, commemorating it with a nice nap on this beautiful spring day!

Last weekend we were in Indy to celebrate a special family friend, Angie's, pending birth of her little girl, Addison.  Lucy enjoyed herself and loved playing with her friend's Emma and Abby.  She continues to love giving out those nose "bups," as you can see her doing with her cousin Lindsay.

Lucy has all kinds of words now and continues to amaze us with what she knows.  She say's "airplane" whenever she hears or sees one in the sky.  The other day Brian gave her some spare keys and she promptly walked to the door acting as though she was locking it.  Just now, Brian told her to go put the pillow on the chair, and she walked into the other room and placed it right where it was supposed to go.  (How did she know that?)  Oh, what children learn from watching their parents!

Every day is like a wrapped gift that gets opened to find new joys and mysteries of our little girl.  We are truly blessed.

Tea Time

I couldn't resist posting these pictures of Lucy having her 'afternoon tea' today.  I think Mama had as much fun watching her as she did playing!  The other photos are from my nephew's high school graduation this past weekend.  Congrats Josh!

Bows, Bubbles and Blessings...

The photos are primarily from Mother's Day.  Lucy (via Daddy) had a card for me in her crib when she woke up...so very sweet!  We then spent the morning walking at the park.  Even though it was a bit chilly, Lucy loved looking at the turtles, ducks, and squirrels.  In the afternoon we went out to eat and then treated ourselves to ice cream.  This is the first time that Lucy had soft serve from DQ.  As you can see from the picture, she loved it and devoured every bite!

Lucy recently got some bows for her hair from Grammy, so a few of the pictures are her sporting her first hair accessories! The others are her after bath time... a part of the day that she now loves.

I titled the post with "blessings" in it because there is really no other way to describe how I felt on this special day.   After many years of waiting for Lucy and wondering when we may be parents, how wonderful that this year we were blessed to have Lucy in our lives.  I must say, however, that my mind also drifted to all those women out there who would like to be moms and can't for some reason or another....possibly including Lucy's birth mom. My heart and prayers were with these women on this day.

Lucy's Toy Giraffe

We had great fun yesterday playing outside with Lucy's new toy.  Even though she is still a bit small for it, and her feet don't completely touch the ground, Lucy enjoyed herself. Thanks to Grammy for the new toy!

Spring Showers

The showers have been flowing in more ways than one.  Not only has it been raining cats and dogs these past few days, but in addition, my mom's friends hosted a shower for our little Lucy this past Sunday.  It was a beautiful event filled with lots of lovely conversation, great food and new additions to Lucy's toy and clothing stash.   We are so grateful for everyone coming together to welcome our girl home and spoil her with attention and love. As you can see from the photos, Lucy was her true party girl self!   Thanks to Aunt Lisa and Cousin Lindsay for the adorable swimsuit and hat....Lucy is going to be a real cutie-pie poolside!

Some other updates:  Lucy is now walking!  Last night she did a full circle around our living room, kitchen and dining room.  It is so funny to watch because she is still a bit unstable, so she wobbles all around. But she loves it and is so tickled with herself and this new found outlook on life.  On a different note, say a prayer for daddy and his adjustment to being the father of a little girl.  He about had a heart attack when she was mimicking putting on lipstick with her own little toy lipstick (a gift from the gals at school).  She imitates everything we do... such a hoot!

Blooms, Balls and "Bups"

There are many things blooming in our yard....some things welcomed (our beautiful crab-apple tree) and some things not (dandelions).   Lucy seemed to enjoy exploring it all this past weekend.  She also loved playing with her new pink ball.  On a side note, if you come for a visit, be warned that our girl now uses nose "bups" to get what she wants.  Has she already learned at such a young age that she can use her "cuteness" to manipulate?   (I know, I know....limits, Mama.)
